The Canadian Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future.  Every day we raise expectations for blind people, because low expectations are the real obstacle between blind people and our dreams.  You can live the life you want.  Blindness is not what holds you back.  We are not an organization speaking for blind people.  We are an organization of blind people speaking for ourselves.

The Canadian Federation of the Blind welcomes all blind people and our supporters. We offer a completely positive approach to blindness that includes problem-solving, mentoring, networking, advocacy, and public education.

The best way to learn about being blind is from those who are blind – those who use alternative techniques every day – to travel, read, work, study, cook, parent, use technology, etc. Members are both mentor and mentee – we all excel in different areas and benefit from our collected experience.

The Canadian Federation of the Blind is a sister organization to the U.S. National Federation of the Blind, the world’s largest organization of blind people. The executive board are all blind volunteers.

The CFB would like to realize a positive future for all blind Canadians. A future where blind people can find employment, are valued for their contributions and are treated like anyone else.

Together we can face any obstacle, for the real challenge blind people face is not blindness itself, but societal lack of knowledge on blindness and  low expectations of blind people. Help us achieve what we all want: to be treated with dignity and equality. Join us today and be a part of the solution.
